The sun is shining and it is very cold outside. It is a nice weather to go out (just a bit cold). When you come back inside it is nice to eat some homemade warm baked treats. One time-consuming but revarding baking is Karelian pies. They are so much better than the ones you buy from the supermarket. This time I made the shells only with rye flour.
Almost one year I have made my own rye bread. I keep the sourdough all the time in the fridge and feed it every now and then. I bake usually every week or every other week. During this baking time I haven't really bought almost any bread. Warm just made bread is almost the best thing I know. The crunchy crust combines to the soft inside, what could be better? My enthusiasm started when a friend told me about this kind of baking and a blog called Jauhot Suussa. There you can find a lot of great recipes of breads and other baking.
During christmas time when visiting family I brought some rye bread and strong sugar free mustard with me.
